Annual plant, 80 cm tall, exceptionally profusely flowering. Produces large (10 cm diameter) flowers with fringed petals in the colors of the Danish flag: a white cross on a red background. A very decorative variety for tall flower beds, naturalistic gardens, as a cut flower and for containers. Requires a sunny position, has no major soil requirements, and can grow in poorer soils. Sow seeds April–May directly into the ground to a depth of about 2 mm, preferably in small groups of several seeds, spaced 30 cm apart.
