Marjoram should be added to food at the end of cooking to preserve its full flavor and aroma. It is also used as a decoration of dishes. The aroma and characteristic taste of marjoram suit both vegetable dishes, which include cabbage, potatoes, beans, and meats (especially lamb, mutton, grilled dishes) and seafood. In the United States, it is used in poultry, pies, soups, and salads. Italians like to use marjoram in tomato sauces, pizza, and fish dishes. In Polish cuisine, we cannot imagine pea soup, bean soup and sour rye soup without the addition of marjoram. It goes well with thyme and rosemary. It is used in the sausage industry, among others for flavoring white sausage. Interestingly, marjoram oil is also used in the production of liqueurs and teas.

Use in cooking:
- Marjoram, as a seasoning, is added to meats, mainly pork loin. It is also added to tripe, pea soup and dumplings.
- In the past, marjoram was used to flavor drinks and added to cakes.
- Today marjoram is used to season sour soups, white borscht, bean and pea soups, as well as pork loin and roasts.
- Marjoram is an inseparable spice of tripe.

How to store dried marjoram?

Chilled marjoram should be stored in an airtight container. This will allow you to extend its freshness and enjoy its rich aroma to the fullest. It is best to choose a container made of glass or plastic intended for contact with food. Necessarily with a tight closure.

Contraindications to the consumption of marjoram

Marjoram rarely causes allergic reactions. However, it is not recommended to consume it in large quantities because it can cause abdominal pain and adversely affect the nervous system. In addition, marjoram ointment can lead to skin eruptions in allergic people. Some people may develop discoloration. Avoid exposure to sunlight when using cosmetics containing marjoram.
