Grow microgreens at home with the YE!greens set

The YE!greens set makes growing sprouts at home easy, clean and especially fun. You don’t need any experience or special equipment: everything you need is included in this YE!greens mini greenhouse set. Water the sprouts with a little water every day and let them grow in the light. Before long, you’ll be enjoying your own fresh sprouts!

Follow the simple steps below and discover how easy it is to create a mini garden full of vitamins and flavour at home.

How to use the YE!greens set:

1. Preparation
   • Place the tray in a bright spot, but not in direct sunlight.
   • Soak the YE!brick mats in water for 15 minutes.
   • Place them on the SmartDrain tray
   • Scatter the seeds evenly
   • Cover with the lid.
2. Watering
   • Once a day, pour about 50 ml (¼ glass) of water around the mats.
   • Take care not to wash the seeds away.
   • Replace the lid after watering.
3. Growth
   • Check the water level daily
   • Pour any excess water out of the bottom tray.
   • When the plant’s leaves touch the lid – remove it.
4. Harvest
   • After 5–10 days, cut the sprouts and enjoy fresh, vitamin-rich greens.

Tip from ietsGezond.nl: unable to eat all the sprouts at once, and have they already grown? Cut them, put them in a container and store them in the fridge. They’ll stay tasty for a few more days!

How can you tell whether it’s mould or root hairs?

While the seeds are sprouting, you may notice a delicate, white, fluffy coating around the seeds and at the base of the seedlings. Take a close look. If the hairs are thin, attached to the seeds and YE!brick mats, and don’t float into the air when you water, that’s a sign everything is fine. These are root hairs (micro-root hairs) – a completely natural phenomenon that indicates healthy, proper germination. You’ll always see them, for example, on radish and sunflower sprouts.

Mould, on the other hand, is usually greyish, denser, and comes loose easily, floating into the air when touched or watered.

Thanks to the structure of the YE!brick mats and the SmartDrain system, the risk of mould is minimal. However, mould can still develop in very unfavourable conditions, for example if you forget to add fresh water for a few days.
