Description
Millet is one of the oldest cereal products and has a long history among humanity. It has been cultivated in China since 6000 BC, but it has been somewhat sidelined for a while. However, thanks to its properties, it has regained popularity recently; it replaces some products in our daily diet, both in dishes and desserts. Due to its sweet taste, it is also very suitable for children.
Millet is gluten-free. It is also very rich in iron, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, and manganese, as well as vitamins from the B group. It contains silica that supports the development of skin, hair, and nails.
Application
To cook millet: Use a ratio of 2 cups of water for 1 cup of millet. To prevent the bitter aftertaste, it is recommended to rinse millet before cooking or soak it in water for a while. Add the rinsed or soaked grains to boiling water with a bit of salt and 1 tablespoon of oil. When the water is absorbed into the grains after about 15 minutes, turn off the heat and let the millet continue to swell in a warm place, covered with the lid, for a few more minutes.
