Cinnamon description

Cinnamon is probably the oldest spice in the world. The first mention of the use of this plant dates back to 2700 BC. It is known that the Egyptians imported cinnamon from China as early as 2000 BC. Cinnamon is obtained from camphor cinnamon, which grows wild in China and Japan. It is an evergreen tree, growing in arid, tropical areas, reaching a height of up to 10 meters. Young leaves of cinnamon are often red, and all parts of the plant emit a characteristic, spicy aroma of cinnamon.

For the cultivation of cinnamon, long sticks are cut and the bark is removed, which, after dried, goes to trade. Cinnamon, which we can buy in the store, is in the form of grated powder or "rolls". The aroma of cinnamon is present in many kitchens. This spice is used for baking, drinks, desserts and more dry, meat dishes. Few people know that it is also a frequent addition to chewing gums, in which it enhances the refreshing effect.

According to some applications, cinnamon contains ingredients with digestive properties. Unlike the spice itself, cinnamon bark oil is mainly used for cosmetic purposes.
It is added, among others, to soaps and perfumes.
