A low-maintenance annual plant, recommended for amateur cultivation in pots as an edible and ornamental plant. Plants grow up to 0.5-1 m tall, with strong branching. The orange-yellow fruits (4-5 g) are surrounded by lantern-like husks. The fruits are helpful in treating atherosclerosis, and have anti-allergic, antifungal, anti-cancer, and anti-ulcer properties.
Sow from March to April under cover. Transplant seedlings to a permanent location from mid-May to June.
