Stone pine growing kit – grow your own Stone Pine in style
Fancy a green project that also looks great in your interior right away? With the Parasol Pine growing kit, you can easily start growing a Stone Pine (Sosna Pinia). You get a modern-looking birchwood decorative sleeve that adds a bit more character to any room, plus a BIO growing cup that is 100% biodegradable. The inside of the cup is finished with corn-based material and filled with hydro pellets (keramzyt) and potting soil. It also includes a sachet of Stone Pine seeds, so you can get started immediately.
What’s in the set?
- Birchwood decorative sleeve (decorative and reusable)
- 100% biodegradable BIO cup (inside with corn-based coating)
- Hydro pellets (keramzyt) and soil
- Sachet with Stone Pine seeds (Sosna Pinia)
How to use the growing kit
It’s nice and simple: put the seeds in the substrate, water regularly, and be patient. For best results, soak the seeds in warm water for 2 days beforehand. If you sow between February and October (II–X), they usually germinate after about 3–4 weeks. Place your set in a bright spot; that fresh, young green tint often appears sooner than you think.
From windowsill to garden (or balcony)
Once your seedling is well underway, you can plant the Stone Pine out from early spring through autumn, together with the biodegradable cup. Over time, it breaks down in the soil, so you don’t have to fuss as much with repotting. Stone Pine also does very well in a pot and even makes a fun base for bonsai: the flexible shoots make shaping easier, and pruning can be done year-round.
Location & care: what makes Stone Pine happy
Stone Pine originates from the Mediterranean region and loves sun. Preferably choose a sunny spot with a light, rather dry and acidic soil. In summer, you can easily place a pot outside. In the garden, you can plant the tree as a solitary specimen or in loose groups; Stone Pine keeps its lower branches and also grows in width. It can tolerate light frost down to about -20°C, but in harsher winters, protection with straw or a fleece cover is advisable.
Give the birchwood sleeve a second life
The birchwood decorative sleeve is not only a beautiful eye-catcher during cultivation. Once your plant has moved, you can reuse the sleeve for a next growing round or as a desk organizer for pens and other stationery. Practical, decorative, and just a little different.
