Chia seeds are versatile and can be used in various dishes such as desserts, salads, and smoothies. Due to their neutral taste, they pair well with milk and fruit. Note: Do not consume more than two tablespoons (15 g) of chia seeds per day.

What do chia seeds look like?

Chia seed is the most valuable part of the plant called Spanish sage. They are oval-shaped and very small, with the diameter of one grain being approximately 1 millimeter. They vary in color from dark brown to black. There are also white and light red varieties.

Where do chia seeds come from?

The cultivation of chia seeds was widespread as early as 3400 BC. Chia seeds were valued by the Aztecs and Mayans as part of their diet. Currently, the plant is also very popular in areas such as Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico, Guatemala, and Ecuador.

How does chia taste?

These tiny grains are virtually tasteless. Their neutrality is their advantage because they take on the flavor of the liquid they are soaked in. You can combine them with yogurt, juice, or milk. They are the perfect complement to cocktails and desserts. They multiply their volume many times over and take on a jelly-like form.

How do you prepare chia seeds?

Chia seeds need to be soaked in liquid in a ratio of 1:10 for consumption to reach their full potential. The soaking process takes about 2 hours. During this process, they absorb the liquid, causing them to increase in volume.

What can chia seeds be used for?

Do not eat more than two tablespoons of chia seeds per day. They can expand up to twelve times their volume when exposed to moisture. Use chia seeds in smoothies, desserts, salads, pancakes, cereals, and more.
