A strong, widely branched, slow-growing, long-lived tree. Elongated, sharply pointed leaves form dense, decorative, bristly rosettes. Flowers are whitish-green.

A strong, widely branched, slow-growing, long-lived tree. Elongated, sharply pointed leaves form dense, decorative, bristly rosettes. Flowers are whitish-green. Fruits are large, spherical, orange. The plant is fairly easy to grow. Seeds can be sown year-round; before sowing, soak in lukewarm water for about 48 hours. Sow to a depth of about 1 cm in well-draining soil with a pH of 6.1–6.5.
